Awards are in the Awards Marquee, not on the performance floor. Awards within a session are presented in no particular order, so plan to stay for the whole session. Times can still shift on the day — if anything changes for your team we'll update it here and let you know on WhatsApp.
How comp day runs
Your athlete is collected after they perform, then meets the team again for awards.
Performing right before awards? If your team performs right before awards, they skip the collect and go straight to awards with their coach — collect after awards finish.
Getting there
Parking + Travel Time
Spectator parking is in P3 or P4. Sydney Olympic Park is a busy precinct on weekends and casual parking can fill fast, so we recommend pre-booking. Check current rates and book ahead via the Sydney Olympic Park parking page.
⚠️ Sunday 13 September will be busy — plan for it. Three other major events are on in Sydney Olympic Park the same day: Oz Comic-Con, the Sydney Half Marathon and the Netball NSW grand finals. AASCF has warned of heavy traffic and possible road closures. Carpool, leave a lot earlier than you think you need to, and pre-book parking.
Sydney Olympic Park is busy across the whole weekend, so allow extra travel time on Friday and Saturday too.
Meet time & location
Arriving on time is crucial so everything runs smoothly. Athletes meet their coaches, do a short warm-up, then head through to compete. Look for our coaches in Shire Elite merch, drop your athlete with their meet coach, and take a break until their performance.
Where to meet
Meet your athlete's coach at the bottom of the stairs by the Quaycentre entrance (off Olympic Blvd), at the meet time.
The Shire Elite Look
Comp day means full competition look. Uniform, hair, makeup, hairpiece, the lot — the same standard we follow every comp.
Preparing for comp day
- Right now: Mark your calendar with your comp day and times.
- A few days prior: Check your uniform, hairpiece, socks and shoes — this gives you time to deal with any issues
- The night before: Lay out your SE or black tracksuit, full uniform, hairpiece, socks and shoes and pack a water bottle.
- Set your wake up alarm.
- Eat a good breakfast, snacks and meals throughout the day.
- Set an alarm for when to leave (build in a buffer for traffic).
- Arrive at the venue at least 30 minutes early, ready to compete (hair, makeup, uniform done).
- Meet your coach at your team's meet time.
- After the routine, collect your athlete from the meet point — then bring them back there for awards, and collect again after awards.
For Spectators
Come cheer them on! A few things to know before you arrive.
Tickets
- Spectators need a ticket to watch. Tickets are through Ticketebo, buy online ahead of time or pay at the door.
- All tickets scanned on entry; you'll get a wristband.
Seating & photos
- General-admission stands. Please don't save seats.
- Don't enter/exit during a performance — wait until they finish.
- Take lots of photos of your own athlete and team (no flash, and no tripods or large detachable-lens cameras — AASCF's camera policy). Don't forget to tag @shireelitecheer / @shireelitecheerleading!
