How comp day runs
Your athlete is collected after they perform, then meets the team again for awards.
Performing right before awards? Some teams perform just before their awards session — those athletes skip the collect and go straight to awards with their coach after performing. Collect them after awards.
Getting there
Parking
- Spectator parking in P3 or P4.
- $7/hour (up to 4 hrs), $35 daily max. Flat $35 may apply on major-event days.
- Major events across the precinct (NRL, AFL, Supanova + more) — 50,000–80,000 people.
- Expect heavy traffic and possible road closures.
- Carpool, leave early, and pre-book parking if you can.
Meet time & location
Arriving on time is crucial so everything runs smoothly. Athletes meet their coaches, do a short warm-up, then head through to compete. Look for our coaches in Shire Elite merch, drop your athlete with their meet coach, and take a break until their performance.
Where to meet
Meet your athlete's coach at the bottom of the stairs by the Quaycentre entrance (off Olympic Blvd), at the meet time.
The Shire Elite Look
Comp day means full competition look. Uniform, hair, makeup, hairpiece, the lot — the same standard we follow every comp.
Preparing for comp day
- Right now: Mark your calendar with your comp day and times.
- A few days prior: Check your uniform, hairpiece, socks and shoes — this gives you time to deal with any issues
- The night before: Lay out your SE or black tracksuit, full uniform, hairpiece, socks and shoes and pack a water bottle.
- Set your wake up alarm.
- Eat a good breakfast, snacks and meals throughout the day.
- Set an alarm for when to leave (build in a buffer for traffic).
- Arrive at the venue at least 30 minutes early, ready to compete (hair, makeup, uniform done).
- Meet your coach at your team's meet time.
- After the routine, collect your athlete from the meet point — then bring them back there for awards, and collect again after awards.
